Services / Asset Tracking

Keeping non-vehicle assets accounted for

Trailers, containers, generators and mobile equipment move between sites without a driver behind the wheel to report a problem. ETIT fits tracking to these assets and keeps a live register of where they are and how they are used.

Why this matters

Assets without engines are easy to lose track of

  1. No log of where equipment is

Trailers and equipment left at client sites or depots are tracked on spreadsheets, if at all.

  2. Idle assets go unnoticed

Equipment sitting unused for weeks represents cost that nobody is currently measuring.

  3. Theft and loss discovered late

Without location alerts, missing equipment is often only noticed at the next scheduled check.

  4. Utilisation cannot be proven

Deciding whether to buy more equipment or better use what exists is guesswork without usage data.

  5. Maintenance tied to guesswork

Servicing generators and plant on a fixed calendar rather than actual running hours wastes either time or equipment life.

What this covers

Tracking for equipment, not just vehicles

Asset Tracking applies the same device, installation and platform practice used for vehicles to equipment that does not have its own engine or driver: trailers, shipping and site containers, generators, pumps and other mobile plant.

Because these assets are often battery-powered or unpowered, device selection and reporting intervals differ from vehicle tracking — favouring long battery life and motion-triggered reporting over continuous high-frequency updates, unless the asset itself carries power.

The result is a live register: an asset list showing current location, last movement, and, where the device supports it, engine hours or usage duration, replacing manual stock-take processes with continuous visibility.

Service scope

  • Device selection suited to powered and unpowered assets
  • Battery-life-optimised reporting configuration
  • Installation on trailers, containers, generators and plant
  • Motion and geofence alerts for unauthorised movement
  • Utilisation and idle-time reporting
  • Engine-hour tracking for powered equipment where supported

Capabilities

What is delivered

  • 01

    Asset-class device fitting

Installation methods suited to trailers, containers, generators and plant.

  • 02

    Battery-optimised reporting

Configurations that balance location accuracy against device battery life.

  • 03

    Motion and geofence alerts

Notifications when an asset moves outside expected bounds.

  • 04

    Utilisation reporting

Data on how much an asset is actually used against how much it sits idle.

  • 05

    Engine-hour tracking

Running-hour data for generators and powered plant, where hardware supports it.

  • 06

    Live asset register

A continuously updated record replacing manual stock-take spreadsheets.

What you receive

Deliverables

  • Installed asset devices

Confirmed reporting for every asset in scope.

  • Live asset register

A platform view of current location and status per asset.

  • Utilisation report template

A recurring format for reviewing idle time and usage patterns.

  • Movement-alert configuration

Geofence and motion alerts set to your operational boundaries.

How it runs

Delivery steps

  1. 01

    Audit

Existing assets are catalogued and assessed for device compatibility.

  2. 02

    Fit

Devices are installed on each asset with attention to mounting and battery position.

  3. 03

    Configure

Reporting intervals, alerts and geofences are set for each asset class.

  4. 04

    Sustain

Ongoing monitoring, battery replacement and maintenance keep the register accurate.

What changes

Outcomes

  • 01A trustworthy asset register

Location and status data replace manual, often outdated, spreadsheets.

  • 02Faster loss detection

Unauthorised movement triggers an alert rather than being noticed weeks later.

  • 03Evidence for equipment decisions

Utilisation data supports decisions on buying, redeploying or retiring equipment.

  • 04Usage-based maintenance

Servicing driven by actual running hours rather than a fixed calendar.
