A survey covers existing pathways, power capacity, environmental conditions and current network performance, and the resulting design specifies cable categories, switch and access point placement, UPS sizing and access control together, so decisions in one area account for their effect on the others.

Installation follows structured cabling standards with tested and certified runs, labelled and documented for future maintenance rather than left as a mystery for the next engineer. Networking equipment is configured for the traffic patterns the site actually carries — VoIP, video surveillance, business applications, guest access — with segmentation applied where different types of traffic need to be kept apart for performance or security reasons.

Data centre and server room work covers rack layout, power distribution, cooling and fire safety considerations appropriate to the room's size and criticality, alongside physical security measures such as controlled access and CCTV.
